God's Fraud Squad
God’s Fraud Squad is a program dedicated to helping BC church congregations recognize investment fraud and the unscrupulous individuals who exploit faith communities to enrich themselves.
We call it affinity fraud, or fraud among friends, and it occurs in groups where people trust each other based on common beliefs. Too often these groups are Christian churches, including those where the congregation also shares a common language. Affinity fraud is financially and spiritually devastating. It can wipe out savings, ruin good health, embitter family and church relationships, and destroy trust.
British Columbia boasts thousands of churches and dozens of different congregations speaking many different languages. The BCSC aims to grow relationships with these communities and stop faith-based scams in progress. Our goal is to make sure that leaders and members of BC faith communities know the BCSC’s role in protecting investors, and how to report investment fraud if it happens to them.
