Complaints aboutĀ companies
If you have a complaint about an investment you made in a company, or concerns about the conduct of a company, its directors or officers, you have a number of options. These factors will help you determine which option is the most appropriate:
- the nature of your complaint
- whether the company is public or private (public companies are listed on a stock exchange, private companies are not)
- where the company is located
- what result you are seeking
ThisĀ guide helps you identify the type of company that you are dealing with, describes the role of the regulators that supervise the conduct of companies selling their securities, and gives an overview of the options available so you can determine which one is the most suitable. If you have questions or require more information about your options, you can contact the BCSC or the other organizations mentioned for assistance.
- Options if you are concerned about the conduct of a public company and believe that the company, or its directors or officers, may have broken the rules
- Options if you are concerned about how a private company, or its directors or officers, have handled your investment in their company
- Options if you are seeking the return of your investment or other remedy from a company you invested in
