Financial Literacy Month: Planning 10 Resources

Financial Literacy Month: Planning 10 Resources

As part of Financial Literacy Month, we encourage students and young Canadians to learn the basics of budgeting, investing, and money management.

The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) offers a free financial education resource designed to help young Canadians improve their financial life skills.

The City features two components – a classroom resource for teachers, comprised of 11 learning modules, and eight interactive self-directed modules for teachers, youth and members of the general public. The City is available, in both English and French.

The City is modeled on a successful, award-winning teacher resource the BCSC developed for educators who teach Grade 10 students the Planning 10: Finances course.

If you’re an educator

The BCSC no longer offers the online or printed Planning 10 resource. You will find much of the course content in the FCAC’s resource.

On the redesigned BCSC InvestRight website, we offer a Teachers & Youth section that contains links to helpful tools for you and your students. This page also links to The City on the FCAC, where you will find similar content.

If you’re a student

As you get closer to graduation, it’s important to have an understanding of basic personal finance concepts. Whether you’re off to post-secondary education or joining the workforce, make sure you take the time to learn how to manage your money. You can spend some time on The City, or browse BCSC InvestRight. You can also ask your teachers and family members for help.
