Fraud Prevention Month 2016
We are looking forward to a busy Fraud Prevention Month at the BC Securities Commission (BCSC).
The BBB’s annual event highlights the 10 most prevalent types of fraud seen across Canada, and this year featured speakers from the Bank of Canada, the Competition Bureau, and Consumer Debtor Protection Canada.
We have also put a webpage together on our BeFraudAware.ca campaign website for the month of March that includes links to the Smarter Investor Personality Quiz, five Spot Investment Scams checklists, and links to our Fraudster Exposed video series.
The Be Fraud Aware webpage gives people a quick and easy reference that can help them protect themselves against investment scams and become smarter investors.
On, March 9, we will be on location at Murchie’s Tea & Coffee in Victoria, BC talking to people about the things they can do to avoid fraudsters, like our fictional fraudster, David. On March 17, we’ll be holding a second event in Vancouver’s Pacific Centre.
Watch our social media sites and the BeFraudAware.ca webpage for updates and information throughout the month. Follow us on Twitter or like our Facebook page for updates. You can also check out all of our investor education videos on our BCSC InvestRight YouTube page .
