Why Financial Literacy Matters

Now more than ever, making informed financial decisions is important – given the dynamic nature of the financial landscape, and with emerging technologies changing the way we interact, obtain information, and manage finances. Financial Literacy Month provides a great opportunity to learn, grow, and build your financial future.

Unbiased information can be a great advantage when it comes to investing wisely – whether you’re a novice investor, or just want to refresh your knowledge. The BC Securities Commission (BCSC) strives to empower investors to become  confident about their investing skills and have good investment outcomes by providing timely and unbiased investing information. Throughout November, we will be engaging with Canadians and working together with securities regulators from across Canada to raise awareness of the importance of financial education.

The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) website offers more information on this year’s theme and how you can help promote it. Use the hashtag #FLM2021 to follow and share information on social media, and check out the FCAC calendar for activities in your area.
