Speaking to the Fraud Examiners
Last week, I spoke to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the world’s largest anti-fraud organization and premier provider of anti-fraud training and education. There is no more appropriate a group for a preview of the second year of the Be Fraud Aware campaign.
The goal of this campaign is to fraud proof British Columbians by teaching them the warning signs of investment fraud. We also want people to report investment fraud when they encounter and suspect it.
We use the character David Johnson as our fraudster. We want people to see just how
charismatic and charming he can be when he is pitching an investment.
The two commercials and three YouTube videos show many facets of David Johnson – when he is selling, what his underlying motives are, and his reaction to being threatened by an unhappy investor.
We modelled him on descriptions of high profile convicted fraudsters like Ian Thow, Bernie Madoff and Earl Jones.
Take a look. See what you think.
