CSA Raises Awareness of New Reporting Requirements for Advisors
As part of Investor Education Month, the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) is promoting four videos about recent changes to the ways registered investment advisors must report to clients the costs, performance, and value of their investments.
The changes to reporting requirements are part of the Client Relationship Model 2 (CRM2) initiative. Under CRM2, investment advisors must provide clients with:
- enhanced relationship disclosure information
- pre-trade disclosure of adviser fees and other charges
- expanded account statements
- annual reports on investment performance
- annual reports on charges and compensation
Each video provides a brief overview of a new change and includes tips for investors to consider when speaking with an advisor. These range from knowing the fees you pay to buy or sell an investment to what to expect from an advisor.
