CRM2 Video Series: Know Your Investment Performance

Our video “Know Your Investment Account Performance” sets out what to expect in your annual Investment Performance Report and explains personal rates of return based on your specific account.

Our video called “Know Your Investment Account Performance” sets out what to expect in your annual Investment Performance Report and explains personal rates of return based on your specific account.

Your report will include details about the market value of your investments, the deposits and withdrawals that you made at relevant times, and personal rates of return over time. The video uses an example to show how your personal rates of return depend on a number of factors, such as the amount and timing of your deposits and withdrawals.

It also explains why your personal rate of return is unique to you and not comparable to general investment benchmarks. Understanding your personal rates of return makes it easier for you to see where you are at in achieving your investment goals. Having this information will also make it easier to discuss your account with your registered investment advisor.

While the requirement to provide the report came into effect in July 2016, firms have one year to provide you with your first report. Ask your advisor when you can expect to receive your Investment Performance Report.
